What is the purpose of the project?
The analysis of academic writing enables us to identify specific features of academic English, including the variances in different academic disciplines, settings, and stages of learning. This will help Cambridge University Press to develop better teaching materials, and will inform and improve the assessment tools used at Cambridge English Language Assessment.
We are not currently collecting data for this project, but we may re-open it in the future.
We asked participants to contribute to our research by submitting some academic work via our online form. Contributing is quick and easy, and will take you around five minutes. We'll ask you some questions about yourself and your academic background, and then you can upload your document(s). We can accept documents in most formats, but prefer word processed documents rather than PDFs.
We collected work from all academic disciplines and from a wide range of educational stages – from sixth form level through to established university researchers. Our participants have a range of language backgrounds, but are all expert speakers of English.
