Cambridge University Press is committed to language and pedagogy research – the investigation of how we use, teach and learn written and spoken language, particularly English. Our research in these areas helps to inform and improve our English Language Teaching resources.
To conduct our language research, we analyse our multi-billion word collection of written, spoken and learner text – the Cambridge English Corpus. To conduct our pedagogy research, we consult and commission experts in fields such as teacher development, blended learning approaches and more. We also undertake primary research projects involving classroom observation, materials evaluation and so on.
